Boys Over Flowers

*giggle*

When I think of the drama "Boys Over Flowers" a sort of excitement and happy thoughts flew past. For one, who could ever resist the 4 young and drop dead good looking guys? Honestly speaking, not me! It's been so long... way too long since I last watched something worth hunting and addicted over. Back then, every Monday and Tuesday evening were meaningful and I'd avoid leaving the office after 8pm (scared later jam and I'm late, thus missing the show). And when it finished, Mondays and Tuesdays felt boring... and dreadfully long.

A friend was with me one day when I watched one of the episodes. She didn't really liked it, especially the main character - Gu Jun Pyo, played by Lee Min Ho. He's a pretty violent guy who would trash stuffs, even his car, when his temper flare. Interestingly though he's violent, most of us still couldn't resist falling in love with him... same goes for the lead actress, Geum Jandi played by Goo Hye Sun. My friend was like, "OMG how could you (all) like him?!" and I told her, "He's hot, tall and rich."

If you think I'm into Lee Min Ho, think again. The one whom I truly like is actually Yun Ji Hoo, played by ss501 leader - Kim Hyun Joong. You know, it's a funny thing. In the beginning when he first appeared, I don't really like him! He looks... well, kinda feminime and just isn't appealing enough. Plus, he's annoying when he was so-called in love with the model whom he grew up with. His attitude towards Jandi surely wasn't nice.

Then he started to change. Soon after that, his changes became more and more obvious and we get to see the gentle side of Ji Hoo... and yes, his tragic past as well. Afterwards, he even had a hair cut which drove me maaaaad with loooooooveeeeee!!! I'm telling the truth, he suddenly became such a sweetheart and so totally irresistible!

Ah crap, some stupid ppl juz call up my office and colleague passed the line over. He asked whether we sell some sort of powder sauce and I told him no, we sell in finished goods (that powder sauce thingy is part of the raw mat we use). Then he went like, no no no, juz want to know whether we supply that. And I replied again, saying we don't sell that - we only sell finished goods. He was rude and loud on the phone, I was already patient with him. After that he started accusing me of being rude and that he juz wants to know the simple answer to the simple question and that I made it complicated for him. I was like... I know some ppl are unreasonable. But unreasonable up to this stage I really can't believe it! I asked him back whether I sounded rude, and he didn't answer. I proceed to tell him he's the one that's aggravating and then he just slammed the phone. Well F him. Good luck in finding your supplier. He spoilt my mood, that's for sure.

Anyway back to the topic! Ji Hoo is much more gentler and cares for Jandi's feelings. He would not take her by force nor do anything that would hurt her. Junpyo's the exact opposite. He's forceful, fierce and although he never meant to hurt her, he did on some occasions. Ji Hoo was Jandi's first love but in the end she lets go because she understood that she could never have his heart (he likes the model at that time). It was heart wrenching >__<

Shall we move to the other F4 members? Oooh let's talk bout So Yi Jeong (Kim Bum)! He is such a darling!!! With that babyface of his, I couldn't possibly imagine ANY women who won't melt looking at him! Aaaaaw~ I kept imagining his cute smile, and both him + Woo Bin (the other F4, played by Kim Joon) likes to toy with Jun Pyo occasionally.

Last but not least is Woo Bin! Well... I feel kinda guilty. In the very beginning, I liked him the least. Reason being... he's not that good looking and I wondered why he was picked to assume the role as one of the F4. Then I continued to watch. Slowly I began to accept him (he's funny and cute in some ways too) and noticed that he's really nice guy! At the same time he also has some complex within. An inferiority in comparison with his 3 other friends.

Basically he's the mafia's son and he doesn't care what other ppl says, but he cares what his friends think of him. That was so touching!!! He was walking at the edge of a river (I think) one night with a lot of sadness bottled up. Yi Jeong was with him and the he was worried sick that Woo Bin might fall off. He asked and even demanded his friend to come down but Woo Bin was pouring out his sadness that he's not in par with the rest and that he's afraid that they look down on him. Yi Jeong told him that it's impossible because if they do, they would not befriend him in the very begininng.

One reason I really love the Korean version of BOF is that they give a lot of exposure and details on other characters. Although the leads are Jandi and Junpyo, the story also focuses on Ji Hoo and Yi Jeong's past. They might come from a glamourous and rich family, but no one could truly understand what they went through. Same goes for Junpyo. There were less stuffs about Woo Bin but nonetheless we know that he's very loyal to his friends and would do anything to help them.

I don't know who compiled the chart above but I'd like to credit him/ her for the effort. This chart saves all our trouble trying to remember who plays what version as whom. Simply said, out of all the live action I've watched, I would say that the Korean version was the most enjoyable (for me, that is). The japanese version wasn't too bad, except for the casting of Jun Matsumoto as the main character. Though his acting was convincing enough, the role wasn't suitable for him. The feeling's like the main character is lacking something~

The Taiwan version's cast ain't half bad. But sorry, their acting was kinda off... And I simply couldn't understand how I managed to watch through the series several years back O.O

Talk about the plot... two thumbs up for Korean's Boys Over Flowers because of the character exposure. Though they ran from the original plot, I'd like to salute them for giving 'life' to the other minor roles. We get to see Ji Hoo @ Akira's background, grievances and regret. We also know that Yi Jeong @ Soujirou's pain, hatred towards his father and all the burden he carried. Best of all, we finally realized that the oh-so-cool and hip Woo Bin @ Akira actually felt inferior compared to his friends... and he was actually depressed at the thought that they might look down on him. I find that scene really touching as it touches on the friendship they shared.

Another thing I like about the story is how the main character - Geum Jandi actually became "friends" with F4. It's no longer due to Junpyo that they meet up with her... she's like part of their group, whether or not she's still his gf. Remember the part Jandi moved out and the other F3 + Gaeul came to give her house a makeover? Yes, that's what I was talking about. Even if Junpyo and Jandi broke up, she's still their friend. And if she ever needed anything, she could always rely on the others (and it's not limited to Ji Hoo) for help, if not Junpyo.

Hmmmmm nyum~ did I mention that Kim Joon was from T-Max? I think I did *gloat* Yes, I have gotten addicted over this group and it's all thanks to Park Yun Hwa.

Park Yun Hwa
Yes, he's got this baby face look but no... it's not because of his appearance that I like him nor the group. It's because of his voice. When I listen to songs, I don't really focus on the singer's voice (>__< I know!) but this time it's different!!! It seems like I can't survive a day without Yun Hwa's voice coz I'll miss it sooooo much! OMG IS THIS LOVE?!>

T-Max consists of Shin Min Chul and also Kim Joon. Min Chul also possesses a good voice and it's inescapable. I can imagine his voice right now. It's loud with a little hoarse and easily recognizable. If you ask me, I'd say most of T-Max's songs you can hear Min Chul's voice most often, followed by Yun Hwa *eyes turned into heart shape* and lastly Kim Joon. Not sure why but Joon doesn't sing much... he usually rap tho hehe.

Yes yes yes yes yes, go and purchase Boys Over Flower's OST 1, 2 and 2.5 coz they are all damn good!!! My biggest addiction is "Fight the Bad Feeling" or "Nappeun Maeumeul Meokgehae". I can't stop listening/ playing the song... and I think I've been listening to it everyday for at least 2 weeks (yet I'm not tired over it yet!)!!!

Okay that's all for the updates this time... going home to grab a piece of cake for my mum (her b-day y'day) and then catch "The Slingshot" on KBS tonight!!! The drama's getting more exciting and I can't wait to see more stunts between Kim Shin and Jamie. They are such a freaking funny pair!!!
